Why Do I Teach?   Music is my life.  I don’t know where I would be without.  Why not share your passion with others?

My Expectations of My Students:  I expect my students to work hard for any and everything that they want out of life.  I want them to know that it does pay off.  I want them to understand that the people out there that making a living doing what they love have worked the hardest; we only see the end result.

My Methods of TeachingOur voice is its own instrument.  I try to teach my students not to rely on other instruments, but to focus on the one inside.  I teach them to listen and train their ear to hear the melodies and harmonies that make for a great song.

Other Information:  Kim joined MFA in the fall of 2012, and has since been providing private music lessons to aspiring vocalists. She has over 30 years of experience singing in choirs herself, and nearly as much experience directing them. She has performed in musical productions such as Dreamgirls, Ain’t Misbehavin, West Side Story, Bye Bye Birdie and The Wiz and performs anywhere from a solo act to fronting local bands throughout the Midwest. She has working with a producer to record some of her original music, and recently recorded with local blues guitar master Chris Winters to form the 4D Blues Band. She aims to introduce children to different cultures and types of music throughout our history to broaden their minds and gain a greater appreciation for music that exists beyond the radio!
